Hi, I'm Kira Gruber, an integrative, trauma-informed counsellor, currently offering in-person sessions in Congleton and Wilmslow within my private practice, Lumi Counselling.
I'm so happy you're here. You've taken the brave step of seeking support, and I'm here to offer you a safe, compassionate space where you can feel understood, supported, and empowered to explore your experiences.
Life can feel overwhelming, exhausting, or confusing, and carrying emotional burdens alone can weigh heavily on both mind and body. The challenges we face today are often shaped by experiences from our past. You don't have to face these feelings on your own. Reaching out for therapy can feel like a big step, but it can also be the start of meaningful and lasting change, offering an opportunity to understand yourself more deeply, release what no longer serves you, and reconnect with your inner strength.
I am here to walk alongside you at a pace that feels right, supporting you as you explore your feelings, find clarity, and reconnect with your authentic self. In this compassionate, trauma-informed space, you can begin to heal and rediscover your voice.
"To share your weakness is to make yourself vulnerable, to make yourself vulnerable is to show strength"

I am passionate about supporting adults who carry the effects of early emotional wounds. Experiences such as emotional neglect, unmet needs, abandonment, or growing up around narcissistic behaviour can shape how we see ourselves and affect our sense of self-worth. They can also influence how we feel and impact the way we experience life.
When needs are not met in childhood, our nervous system may have learned to stay alert in order to cope. This can show up today as heightened anxiety, overwhelm, emotional shutdown, or difficulty managing strong emotions. We might notice ourselves feeling disconnected, questioning our worth, or reacting strongly without fully understanding why. These responses are not character flaws. They are survival strategies that our body and mind developed to help us cope with challenging environments.
Therapy offers a space for you to explore and understand these patterns with kindness and compassion. Together, we can uncover what triggers these responses and explore supportive strategies that promote better emotional regulation, resilience, and self-understanding.
Healing is not about changing the past. It is about reclaiming your life, strengthening your inner resources, and moving forward with greater confidence.

The heart of my work is grounded in safety, compassion, and deep respect for your unique story. As a professional, trauma-informed practitioner, I draw from evidence-based therapeutic methods while remaining fully present with your needs in each moment. You already carry wisdom and resilience within you, and my role is to help you reconnect with it.
In our sessions, you are welcome exactly as you are. You can bring your emotions, uncertainty, hopes, and fears. Being open and vulnerable takes courage, and I honour that. I provide a space where your safety, choice, and sense of control are my priority. This space is built on trust, collaboration and respect.
I recognise that trauma can affect both mind and body. I gently support you in reconnecting with your strength, letting go of what no longer serves you, and discovering a sense of empowerment in your life.

By being here, you have already taken a courageous step. You do not need to make sense of everything before starting therapy. I will meet you gently and respectfully wherever you are on your journey.
My name is Kira. Originally from Finland, I have lived in the UK for over twenty years. My own path to becoming a counsellor has been shaped by a variety of life experiences, both professional and personal.
