BACP registered Integrative Counsellor Supporting Adults with Anxiety, Trauma and Low Self-Worth

Hi, I'm Kira Gruber, a BACP registered integrative counsellor, currently offering in-person counselling in Congleton and Wilmslow within my private practice, Lumi Counselling.

I'm so happy you're here. You've taken the brave step of seeking support, and I'm here to offer you a safe, compassionate space where you can feel understood, supported, and empowered to explore your experiences.

I support adults who are experiencing anxiety, childhood trauma, low self-worth, difficult relationships or the lasting affects of narcissistic abuse.

At Lumi Counselling, I provide a safe, compassionate and trauma-informed space where you can explore your thoughts and feelings without judgement.

Therapy can help you understand patterns from the past, strengthen emotional resilience and reconnect with your authentic self.

My Focus
Trauma Counselling in Cheshire

I specialise in supporting adults who carry the effects of early emotional wounds. Childhood trauma is not always obvious.
Experiences such as emotional neglect, unmet needs, abandonment, or growing up around narcissistic behaviour or in an environment where love felt conditional, can shape how we see ourselves and affect our sense of self-worth. They can also influence how we feel and impact the way we experience life.

When needs are not met in childhood, our nervous system may have learned to stay alert in order to cope. This can show up today as heightened anxiety, overwhelm, emotional shutdown, or difficulty managing strong emotions.

We might notice ourselves feeling disconnected, questioning our worth, or reacting strongly without fully understanding why. These responses are not character flaws. They are survival strategies that our body and mind developed to help us cope with challenging environments.

Counselling offers you a supportive, non-judgemental space where you can explore your patterns, gain insight into your experiences, and understand how your past may still be influencing your present.

Healing is not about changing the past. It is about reclaiming your life, strengthening your inner resources, and moving forward with greater confidence.

My Approach
Creating a safe, compassionate, and trauma-informed space

The heart of my work is grounded in safety, compassion, and deep respect for your unique story. As a professional, trauma-informed practitioner, I draw from evidence-based therapeutic methods while remaining fully present with your needs in each moment. You already carry wisdom and resilience within you, and my role is to help you reconnect with it.

In our sessions, you are welcome exactly as you are. You can bring your emotions, uncertainty, hopes, and fears. Being open and vulnerable takes courage, and I honour that. I provide a space where your safety, choice, and sense of control are my priority. This space is built on trust, collaboration and respect.

I recognise that trauma can affect both mind and body. I gently support you in reconnecting with your strength, letting go of what no longer serves you, and discovering a sense of empowerment in your life.

How Counselling Can Help
Counselling can support you to:
  • Understand your inner world with greater clarity and insight, supporting deep emotional healing.
  • Become more attuned to your emotions and recognise triggers from past experiences.
  • Learn to soothe yourself with compassion rather than fear or self-judgement.
  • Strengthen your sense of self and build healthier boundaries.
  • Cultivate relationships that feel balanced and supportive.
  • Reconnect with parts of you that have long felt hidden or dismissed.
  • Notice feeling more balanced, more connected to who you are, and more confident in facing life's challenges.

  • Anxiety and stress

Childhood Trauma Counselling
Early experiences can shape how we feel about ourselves, others, and the world around us. If you grew up feeling unsafe,
unsupported, or emotionally overwhelmed, these experiences can continue to
influence adult relationships, self-esteem, and emotional wellbeing.
Childhood trauma counselling offers a safe and compassionate space to explore these
experiences, helping you understand patterns that may have developed and gently
supporting you in developing greater emotional safety, self-understanding, and self-compassion.

Healing from Narcissistic Abuse
Relationships involving narcissistic behaviour can leave lasting emotional effects, including confusion, self-doubt, and
difficulty trusting your own perceptions. You may find yourself questioning
your feelings, prioritising others’ needs above your own, or struggling to set
boundaries.
Counselling can support you in making sense of these experiences,
rebuilding trust in yourself, and developing healthier ways of relating to
others while reconnecting with your own needs and sense of self.

Understanding Emotional Neglect
Emotional neglect can occur when our emotional
needs were not consistently recognised, understood, or responded to. Unlike
more obvious forms of trauma, emotional neglect can be harder to identify, yet
it may lead to feelings of emptiness, disconnection, or difficulty
understanding and expressing emotions.
Counselling offers a space to gently explore
these early experiences, helping you develop greater awareness of your
emotional world and begin building a more compassionate relationship with
yourself.
